Preventing emissions and waste during production and construction

General description

When realising a building, not only the emissions embodied in the utilised materials are important, but also the emissions produced during production and construction. For example, grey energy is included in these emissions. They should be prevented as good as possible while also waste should be avoided. Green production methods as well as waste avoidance strategies address these challenges. Waste is for example directly reused during the construction process or there are strategies in place making the production of materials environmentally-friendly.

Examples

CRCLR

Berlin, Germany

Material that had to be destroyed during the renovation process was used as recycled crushed aggregate in the reinforced concrete structure. Leftovers of old insulation material were reused inside the newly built exterior doors.
